August 29th

The schoolboys section started on August 29^th. Our u11’s enter into the Cork Schoolboys League for the first time and out of 8 Divisions found themselves being placed straight into Division 5. They played their very first league game on the 29^th and the opposition couldn’t come any harder than Togher side Greenwood. Ballinhassig started the brighter and it became obvious that they were physically the stronger and seemed to dominate the game, taking it to Greenwood all the time. Ballinhassig took the lead midway through the first half with a well taken goal from Aaron O’Leary, this was to be his first of a five goal, man of the match performance from him. Greenwood got one back before half-time, but Kieran O’Mahony played well in goal making sure that it would be the only one. The defence were steady throughout the game with Kevin Lynch and Eoin Buckley in particular containing Greenwood on more than one occasion. A fantastic start to the u11 season and well done to the entire panel that played a part in a 5-1 victory.
