Girls Under 10, 12 & 14

Training: U12's & U14's : Monday nights in Gortnaglough from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Girls U16's & U18's  : Monday nights in Gortnaglough from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

 

Girls News
This season see’s us enter four teams into the schoolgirls League, u12’s, 14’s, 16’s and 18’s. Liam Casey takes the u12’s, John Crowley the u14’s, these two ages train on Monday nights 6 – 7:30pm. Gary Swan will be giving a hand with the u16’s and Mick O’Sullivan will also be throwing in his knowledge with the u18’s.  We are very grateful to Mick O’Sullivan who has agreed to stay on with us after his stint with the seniors. The 16/18’s train on Monday nights 7 – 8:30pm. The League starts this weekend with the

SATURDAY 30 TH  January  YOUGHAL UTD (5) V BALLINHASSIG (1)  - Cup

An understrenght & flu ravaged team travelled to Youghal for this quarter final cup tie. Slow to settle 10 girl Ballinhassig conceded an early goal but from the restart they took complete control of the game. Extreme pressure eventually paid off with a penalty for hand ball expertly put away by Capri McPherson. Ballinhassig kept up the onslaught until half time with excellent chances from Capri, Anna Harrington and Claire Christopher and should have been well clear at the break.

However losing flu victim Claire Christopher shortly after the break and with Kelly Walsh and Anna Harrington bravely carring on despite carrying injuries Youghal’s numerical advantage took hold and scored four in quick sucession despite a fine performance from Theresa O’Sullivan in the Ballinhassig goal. Ballinhassig still continued to fight and both Meg and Casey O’Sullivan were unlucky late on.

Best for Ballinhassig saw Capri McPherson, Caoimhe Crowley and the O’Sullivan sisters  give star performance with captain Anna Harrington leading by example with a man of the match display.

SATURDAY 20 TH  February  YOUGHAL UTD (5) V BALLINHASSIG (2)  - League

A very spirited effort from a very young Ballinhassig team who took the lead twice. Mary McGuane opened the scoring only to let Youghal reply from the tip off. Ballinhassig didn’t lay down however and kept the pressure with Casey O’Sullivan particularly unlucky. After the break the visitors again took control from a scrappy effort tidied up by Capri McPherson

 

Youghal's power and strength eventually took over and in the last quarter scored four without reply. Best for Ballinhassig were Meg O’Sullivan, Mary McGuane anr Rebecca Moynihan.
